Handling and Storage of Chemicals

The aim of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge of how to read and interpret a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and the skills to be able to handle, dilute and store chemicals safely in accordance with a Chemical Risk Assessment.

At the end of this course learners will be able to:

  • Explain where and in what form chemicals are found
  • Describe the requirements of a Chemical Risk Assessment
  • Understand the role of the MSDS
  • Identify the PPE and PPC required using the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • Understand the procedure to follow with regard to storage and handling of chemicals
  • Use a cleaning schedule to monitor and control hygiene in a factory
  • Mix and use chemicals according to the MSDS
